No one is 100% happy with the economic stabilization package that passed the Senator last night but that does not mean we should take out our frustrations on historically conservative members of the Senate.
Tom Coburn, John Cornyn, Kay Bailey Hutchison. These Senators have voted some of the most conservatively of any members in recent history. We should all remember going into November that we’re fighting the politics of Obamamania. We’re fighting for conservative principles and values. We need to get behind our conservative Senators and suppor them for their vote.
Heck, even Newt’s for it. Is he a liberal?

I support Sen. Cornyn and all the other Republicans who voted in favor of this package. Something needed to be done or another major catastrophe would have occurred.
Comment by Roger Freedman October 2, 2008 @ 6:30 pmBeing voting in favor of this bail out package these Republicans are sending a message for bipartisanship cooperation to solve our economic crisis.
For anyone would condemns them for voting against party lines needs to re-think their opinion and understand SOMETHING HAD to be done
Comment by Kyle Thoman October 2, 2008 @ 6:32 pmI agree with both Kyle and Roger, too many times politicians are worried about voting against their party and worry how this will look, but these Republicans voted for what they believed was right and I congratulate them for going against political norms.
Comment by Charles Gaffigan October 2, 2008 @ 6:35 pmThe new revisions addedmore than $100 billion in popular tax breaks as well as aid to rural schools important to House Republicans. And to build support among small town community banks, the bill raises the cap on insured deposits from $100,000 to $250,000.
This is the best we could have hoped for, so every Republican who has problem with their Senator for voting for this needs to understands the revisions and what would have happened if YOUR Senators didn’t take immediate action.
Comment by Chris Corsbie October 2, 2008 @ 6:40 pmThere are many ways in which this situation could have been handled. Dave Ramsey has one example…and there are many more.
This bill was not the right one to get passed and whoever voted for it gave in to fear and ploitics. Most wanted some kindof bill to solve this problem…but this one was not the one and that is why John Cornyn and Kay Bailey Hutchinson will have serio9us problems getting re-elected.
Comment by Jason October 6, 2008 @ 11:27 amJason, you are right on the money!!! How come the Dow didn’t recover? It’s down tremendously since the “recovery” bill passed. We need to applaud those Reps like mine, John Culberson, who held their ground and voted against this bad legislation. This bill was nothing more than the original 3 page bailout with 448 additional pages of PORK!!! Is that why we put Cornyn in the Senate? I don’t think so.
