Spurs Look to Close

As I am sure most of you know tonight is Game 5 between the San Antonio Spurs (50-32) and Dallas Mavericks (55-27).  As the series stands right now the Spurs have a commanding 3 to 1 series lead, looking to close it out tonight in Dallas.  Will they do it?

Sorry Spurs fans (and I’m one of them), but tonights it’s all about the Mavericks.  Expect the Mavericks to come out shooting on fire, getting Jason Terry involved early and often.

I expect Terry, who picked it up in the fourth quarter of the last game, to have an astounding game.

PREDICTION: Dallas 104 Spurs 91

NRSC Chair Cornyn Voices Sense of Urgency

Filed under: Dino Rossi, John Cornyn, Patty Murray

Over the weekend NRSC Chairman and Texas Senator John Cornyn voiced his anxiety over whether his recruit in the Washington Senate race.  Cornyn, who recruited Dino Rossi, a former Washington state senator, is uneasy because Rossi has not officially said whether or not he would run.  Cornyn and the NRSC know time is running out, Rossi has a couple more weeks to decide whether or not to challenge incumbent Democratic Senator Patty Murray.

While reading this article it made me contemplate Senator Cornyn’s ability at chairing the national republican senatorial committee.

Let me know your thoughts!!

Baker Reaches Supporters

“We need to promote free market economy”

Baker talks to supporters

What a great message for th upcoming tax day.

Despite Gilbert Baker running for Senate in Arkansas this message applies everywhere.  The Baker campaign is right when it says the American people can not pick winners and losers, instead we need to find bipartisan solutions.

GOP Pledges to Fight Supreme Court Nominee

Senior Republican leaders, including Texas’ own Senator John Cornyn, have pledged a “whale of a fight”  for Obama’s Supreme Court replacement for Justice John Paul Stevens.  But I’m here to tell the GOP to slow down.  With the recent passing of the healthcare reform Obama is gaining momentum, as much as I do not like to admit it.  If senior GOP leaders continuously isolate themselves and oppose Democratic nominees and legislation for the next year, McCain voiced this idea, they will undoubtedly miss out on coming opportunities.

A White Lie?
April 9, 2010, 1:48 pm

Democratic gubernatorial nominee Bill White is facing criticism for not releasing his income tax returns.  Some critics go as far as saying he has been caught lying to the Texas Ethics Commission (TEC).  It has been speculated White failed to report more than $83,000 in income.

What does it all mean?

Really nothing, does White really have a shot at the mansion?   Furthermore, after this incident it is even more unlikely.  Texans will want more transparency from their governor.

What makes it worse is that incumbent Rick Perry has been pressing White to reveal his income returns for quite some time.  Maybe we know why he didn’t publicize them?

Bentley Surges Despite Lack of War Chest

Filed under: Robert Bentley, Roy Moore

A recent poll conducted in the primary race in the Alabama GOP primary found that Dr. Robert Bentley is tied with Roy Moore in second place.  The numbers attributed to Bentley indicate over a 12-point increase.  Having kicked his campaign off just over a month ago, Bentley seems poised to keep gaining momentum and eventually overtake Moore.

The poll finds that Bentley’s 12-point increase is the largest of any candidate, notably more than Bradley Byrne who has spent 3x as much money on television advertising.

Some positive forces working for Bentley are:

1) His support among self-identified Republicans, Independents, and Democrats

2) Bentley is alone in second place among independents

I am looking forward to see how this race develops, Bentley seems poised to make a push and possibly win the Republican nod.

UPCLOSE with LT. Gov. Dewhurst

Texasinsider.org has recorded an excellent video highlighting Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst and his “Texas Back to Work” program.  If this is the first time you have heard of this program, DO MORE READING.

Lt. Governor Dewhurst is a man who gets it.  The “Back to Work” program gives any individual $2,000 if they go out and hire an uemployed individual for at least four months.  This is a great way to jumpstart jobs, keep Texas’ economy rolling, and increase the private sector’s jobs.
