Not quite a maverick but Lt. Gov. Dewhurst is exposing the faults of the current administration with relentless optimism. On Tuesday he attended a Repeal and Replace ObamaCare Rally, the following video is a glimpse of Mr. Dewhurst addressing the crowd.

Texasinsider.org has recorded an excellent video highlighting Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst and his “Texas Back to Work” program. If this is the first time you have heard of this program, DO MORE READING.
Lt. Governor Dewhurst is a man who gets it. The “Back to Work” program gives any individual $2,000 if they go out and hire an uemployed individual for at least four months. This is a great way to jumpstart jobs, keep Texas’ economy rolling, and increase the private sector’s jobs.

As of a few days ago, Bill White has decided to run for governor. It’ll be interesting to see how this affects the field for Senator Hutchison’s seat (if it opens). Texas GOP came out swinging.
What are you thoughts on these races? I guess somebody has got to make the sacrifice and be the Chris Bell of 2010 – especially since Kinky’s running again. He’s running as a Democrat, though, and I’m not sure if he’ll run independently if he doesn’t get the nomination.
And for your entertainment, here’s what Kinky had to say while in Abilene recently.
David Dewhurst wrote an op-ed piece for the Austin Statesman about the fact that Texas did not need stimulus money to balance the state budget. The state was able to balance its revenue due to smart legislative policies that Dewhurst himself supported.
“In 2007, I led the effort to save $7 billion to balance the revenue shortfall we anticipated this year.”
If it were not for legislative actions that promoted fiscal responsibility that were led by Dewhurst our state may have seen a budget shortfall, Texas continues to be a model for other states on how to operate economically.
“The fact remains that Texas is one of only six states whose budget isn’t in the red, even though our state is among the fastest growing in the nation. The state has an unemployment rate well below the national average, it continues to attract jobs from companies that have relocated or expanded in Texas, it has one of the healthiest housing markets in the nation, and Texas cities are consistently recognized for their healthy job markets, high quality of living and resistance to the recession. Here in Texas, we live within our means and create a climate that gives individuals and businesses the opportunity to succeed.”
