Hutchison To Serve Out Remainder of Term

It’s (almost) official.  Kay Bailey Hutchison is expected, in her 11 a.m., presser to announce she will serve out the remainder of her congressional term.  The announcement comes days after Hutchison conceded the republican gubernatorial primary to incumbent Governor Rick Perry.

Speculation was circling that Hutchison may relinquish her position early, which will end in 2012.

Is this a good move for us Texans?  Let me know your thoughts!

Kay Bailey Hutchison, Republican candidate for Governor, has just released her latest ad “Honest.”

Check it out:

Good ad but it’ll be interesting to see what Governor Perry’s camp has to say.

2010 election season

Until March 2nd, you and the rest of Texas will be hit over the head with campaign messages. I’d rather see Republicans targeting Democrats than Republicans targeting each other, so I’m really looking forward to the general election season.

One great (well, at least entertaining) aspect of this primary season, however, is the drama. This article from DMN highlights what I mean – it labels 2010 the “Year of the Domino” for Texas because of all the effects that will stem from decisions made by Senator Hutchison, Governor Perry, and Texas voters.

Those who are making predictions about March and November should be careful. I don’t think anything’s obvious yet, particularly regarding the gubernatorial race.

Texas Gubernatorial getting interesting…

As of a few days ago, Bill White has decided to run for governor. It’ll be interesting to see how this affects the field for Senator Hutchison’s seat (if it opens). Texas GOP came out swinging.

What are you thoughts on these races? I guess somebody has got to make the sacrifice and be the Chris Bell of 2010 – especially since Kinky’s running again. He’s running as a Democrat, though, and I’m not sure if he’ll run independently if he doesn’t get the nomination.

And for your entertainment, here’s what Kinky had to say while in Abilene recently.

Good Leaders for Hard Times

No one is 100% happy with the economic stabilization package that passed the Senator last night but that does not mean we should take out our frustrations on historically conservative members of the Senate.

Tom Coburn, John Cornyn, Kay Bailey Hutchison. These Senators have voted some of the most conservatively of any members in recent history. We should all remember going into November that we’re fighting the politics of Obamamania. We’re fighting for conservative principles and values. We need to get behind our conservative Senators and suppor them for their vote.

Heck, even Newt’s for it. Is he a liberal?
