Our soldiers deserve our appreciation and our respect for all they have done for us. They are willing to put their lives on hold and on the line to defend our country and our freedoms. David Dewhurst wrote an op-ed piece for the Austin Statesman about the fact that Texas did not need stimulus money to balance the state budget. The state was able to balance its revenue due to smart legislative policies that Dewhurst himself supported.

“In 2007, I led the effort to save $7 billion to balance the revenue shortfall we anticipated this year.”

If it were not for legislative actions that promoted fiscal responsibility that were led by Dewhurst our state may have seen a budget shortfall, Texas continues to be a model for other states on how to operate economically.

“The fact remains that Texas is one of only six states whose budget isn’t in the red, even though our state is among the fastest growing in the nation. The state has an unemployment rate well below the national average, it continues to attract jobs from companies that have relocated or expanded in Texas, it has one of the healthiest housing markets in the nation, and Texas cities are consistently recognized for their healthy job markets, high quality of living and resistance to the recession. Here in Texas, we live within our means and create a climate that gives individuals and businesses the opportunity to succeed.”

President Obama received the Nobel Prize for Peace today based solely on his promises and not his record. Shouldn’t a Nobel Prize be given to people who have actually done something worth the prize and not because of false promises. Ronald Reagan actually did something during his presidential years worth a prize as prestigious as the Nobel Peace Prize. Reagan exemplified leadership that went beyond just words and promises.

So, who deserves a Nobel Peace Prize more, President Ronald Reagan or President Barack Obama?

A few weeks ago David Dewhurst announced he is running for re-election for another term as Lt. Governor. This surprised many political pundits across the State of Texas.

Dewhurst has the money, the connections within the Texas Republican Party. Dewhurst will crush any opposition and win re-election easily.

It is still not for sure what Dewhurst is going to do, but whether he runs for Senate or re-election he has enough going in his favor to win.

Florence Shapiro made a big announcement today – two former Secretary of Education endorsements. Margaret Spellings and Bill Bennett both endorsed her campaign for U.S. Senate. Finally we’re seeing some substantive names getting involved in this race.

With so much controversy surrounding the recent National Republican Senatorial Committee endorsement of Florida Charlie Crist, NRSC Chairman John Cornyn decided to guest post on RedState explaining his support of Crist.

I understand I am in a small minority here but I commend Chairman Cornyn for not only endorsing Crist but also taking time to post on RedState.  By endorsing Crist the NRSC is most likely going to win this seat.  If the NRSC had thrown their support behind Marco Rubio they would have undoubtedly had to throw immense amounts of cash into the race.  Now, the NRSC can spread that money around to other races.

To me this endorsement only made sense.

With “Nearly half of Nevadans” wanting Reid out of office, the National Republican Senatorial Committee has capitalized on his diminishing numbers and released this ad.  Reid has been under fire from the Republicans ever since he approved Pres. Obama’s “porkulus” package. 

More recently, Reid threw a blow-out party at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas.  When asked about the party Reid said “It’s part of Washington.”  Well Mr. Reid since when is a 60+ year old man throwing wild parties in Vegas part of Washington? 

If this is what our politicians do with our money then I think I am in the wrong profession.
